The Jazz Band is comprised of a select group of students that will practice and study different examples of jazz music. Those participating will learn about its unique style, scales, and even a few individual artists that helped shape this style of music. Students will be exposed to various jazz songs and will perform them at concerts, graduation, and other events.
Jazz Band Instrumentation
  • 1-2 Alto Saxes
  • 1-2 Tenor Saxes
  • 1 Bari Sax
  • 3-4 Trumpets
  • 2-4 Trombones
  • 1 Piano
  • 1 Electric Bass
  • 2 Percussion (Alternate set and percussion)
Requirements for Membership
  • Dedicated; serious about playing America’s indigenous art form
  • Open to 7th period Band members only
  • Must have good school attendance
  • Must attend all rehearsals
  • Must PRACTICE and learn assigned parts
Rehersal Schedule
  • Tuesdays 8:00 - 9:00 pm
  • Fridays 3:00 - 4:00 pm
  • Rehearsals are in the WCHS Band Room OR Guitar Room

  • School Concerts
  • Assemblies at schools in the district
  • Nursing home circuit
  • Possible Jazz Central performance
  • Others as scheduled
