- The August Newsletter has been posted here-
- The next Band Booster meeting -
The Band Boosters meet the second Monday of every month (ok, we usually take a break and skip the June meeting).
This will be Monday, September 8th, at 7:00 pm in the High School community room.
Agenda will include updates on the marching season and fundraisers.
Every parent is a member, so come and make your voices heard!
- Band Videos & CDs Still available! -
Every year one of the highlights of the Band Awards is the showing of the video. Like in the past, this was
great and a source of memories for years to come. We still have a few of these available - contact Mike Carter
about getting one. The DVD of the video is $10.00, and the 2 CD set containing the music of the past four years
is only $5.00.
- Welcome Back! -
It is hard to believe that summer is over and the school year is all of ONE DAY away now! We have had our first home game, and it went Fantastic!
Wilmington filled the visitors stands and bought lots of concessions! The car washes went very well, and the Entertainment book sale is currently going
on. Watch the newsletter and the web site for updates!
- New Fee Structure -
The new fee structure is in place. If you are planning on marching next year, then you have already made
your May 1st deposit of $100, and the second payment due June 1st. The next payment due is for band camp -
$180.00 due by July 15th! The third payment is due October 1st! In addition, the guard costume payment is
due September 1st.

- Fundraisers -
Unfortunately, running a band program requires money, so that means fundraising. There are many ways for kids and their parents to earn
money toward their band fees
- Entertainment Book Sales – We will be selling these again at the end of August. One change is students can check out books to sell. We aren’t just going to send home books with everyone.
- Parent Service Credit is Changing -
The way parents can earn credit toward their students fees is changing. Click here for all the details.
You asked for it - and we have it. The boosters have added PayPal as an option to pay your band fees.
Paypal is a secure service that you can use to pay bills on-line using a credit card, a bank account, or even their own account.
It is extremely simple and secure to use (it is one of the biggest payment methods used on eBay (and is now owned by eBay),
and everyone knows how many transactions go on there. In addition we would also be able to use it for ticket sales for our
various special concerts. Click here to pay your fees on-line!
Please note - in order to cover our costs for this service, a 5% fee will be added to all PayPal transactions, labelled as
a shipping charge
- GoodSearch -
This Internet thing is really picking up steam, and we are all over it. We are now affiliated with
GoodSearch.com - a search engine that gives donations to charities when people use it for doing web searches.
You can install it as a toolbar on your browser, and then every time you do a web search it generates a donation
to the band. In addition, if you use the site for shopping, we can earn even more. It is an easy way to help the band.
Click the banner below to go to their site, with full instructions. In the box that under the label "Who do you good search for?"
enter "West Carrollton High School Band Boosters".
Thanks to concert band director Clay Bates for getting us registered!
- 2007-8 Band Officers -
Each year the band elects student officers. These students lead the band, plan and organize the bigs and littles picnic, and are
the student liasons to the boosters. Information about this years officers can be found here.
- New Student Information -
You started playing your instrument in 6th grade, and over the next three years fell in love with music, and now you want to join
the High School marching band program. Great, and we look forward to all the new freshmen coming in this year. We had a brief informational
session after the 7th and 8th grade band concert on May 8th. For anyone who missed this, or anyone looking for more information on
the band program, we have a summary available for download here.
- We Need You -
Did you ever wonder what you could do to help out? Did you want to help, but had limited time and felt the jobs were just too much to handle?
We have the solution. We need volunteers for the following positions for the upcoming marching season. Contact Mr. Dixon or any of the board members
if you have some time during the fall to help out.
-
Committee Chairperson. The board has several committees, and each of these needs a chairperson. This job is to organize the volunteers and report back to
the board. It is not to do everything. The more people we have helping out, the less each person has to do. Earns the Special Event Parent Service Credit.
The committees are:
-
Ways and Means - responsible for all fundraising not specifically assigned to other committees. This may include
-
Pirate Table
-
Candy Sale
-
Car Washes
-
Other fundraising opportunities
Thanks to those parents who have stepped up. Amy Phelps has volunteered to be the uniform 'Mom', and Kim Savage will be doing the announcing for the football
games (following in the footsteps of previous band booster presidents). We are still looking for more parents, and can use all the help we can get.
Please note - the Special Event Parent $50.00 Parent Service Credit may only be earned once per year. So to earn all the possible parent credits, a
parent must work 3 UD games, 3 non-UD events (such as the football concession stand), and one special event.
- Private Lesson Reimbursement -
The boosters have made available a limited amount of money to help students with private lessons. Reimbursement is availble
for up to 50% of the cost of private lessons (max of $10.00 per lesson), up to a maximum of $100.00 per student per year, as
long as the funds are available. In order to qualify, a student must submit a request available here.
The request must be approved by a band director and a booster board member before any reimbursements will be made.
In addition, a receipt for each lesson must be submitted with instructors signature and date to receive the reimbursement. The
lessons must be relevant to the band program (so guitar lessons for marching band aren't eligible, however if the student is
playing guitar in jazz band then they would be.)
